State of Massachusetts Digital Media Specialist in Worcester, Massachusetts

A PORTFOLIO DEMONSTRATING PAST WORK REQUIRED PURPOSE OF THE JOB Under the direction of the Director ofDigital and Creative Services,theDigital Media Spacialistassistswith day-to-day operations related to the Commission’sdigital platforms and creative servicesefforts, develops original, brand-building contentand visual elements, conducts research, and supports other department functions as needed. The ideal candidate is highly self-motivated, detail-oriented,and exercises good judgment invarioussituations with the ability to handle a range of tasks under pressure in a dynamicand creativeenvironment. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES Support Commissioners and staff in departments across the Commission with projects in but not limited to:Communications,Equity Programming,Community Outreach, Government Affairs, Human Resources, Enforcement, andOperations. Develop orassistwith developingcreative assetsand outreach materials such aswebsite and social media graphics, posters, brochures, PowerPoint presentations,photography, and videographyelements. Assistwithformatting and templating branded Commissioncollateral, educational materials, and promotionalitems. Create and update content on theCommission’swebsites, socialmedia channels, and email marketingplatforms. Assiststaff at Commission and public speaking events, seminars,and trade shows asrequested. Assistin the collection,management, andproductionof informationto analyze and communicatedata, trends,and reporting; and Administrative support work asneededand all other duties as assigned. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Maintain the highest standards of personal, professional,and ethical conduct and support the Commission’s goals for a diverse and culturally awareworkforce. Manage department equipmentand outreachmaterials. Track all internal creative service requests and ensure projects are completed efficiently andtimely; and Ability to spend approximately 10% of the time out of the office andtravelingthroughout the state. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS A passion for visual storytellingwith the ability to follow guidelines for brand andstyle. Exceptional character andprofessionalism. Excellent oral and writtencommunicationskillswitha track recordof creativeproblem-solving. Strong interpersonal skills,demonstratedpatience, and the ability to work both independently and on ateam. Ability toprioritize and execute tasks effectivelyin afast-pacedand rapidly changingenvironment. Ability to contribute actively to a work environment that embracesdiversity. Ability to build constructive working relationships characterized byhighacceptance, integrity, cooperation, and mutualregard. Ability to seek opportunities to resolve problems, achieve goals, or otherwise advance the Commission’s mission;and Ability to work in and travel to the Commission’sWorcester and/or Boston offices. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Bachelor’s degree inDesign, Marketing, or Communicationspreferred; Minimum of2-4years ofprofessionalexperience in an entry-levelor highercreativeposition supporting multiple projects,clients,or departmentswith a portfoliodemonstratingpastwork. Strong administrative and organizational skills with exceptional attention todetail. Familiarity with web design andexperience working in a Content Management System (CMS). WordPress experience preferred. Proficiencyin Adobe Creative Cloud with intermediate knowledge of the following programs: Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign,andExpress. Proficiencyin Microsoft Office withintermediate toadvanced knowledge ofthe following programs: Word,PowerPoint, Excel,and Outlook; and Demonstrated excellence in written and verbal communication skills. Salary Range: $55,000 - $65,000 Benefits Package: The Commission is pleased to offer a comprehensive benefits package to its employees. The specific components and eligibility may vary based upon position classification, hours worked per week and other variables. Therefore, specific benefits for this position may be discussed as part of the interview and offer process. This position is non-civil service. This position is an exempt position.
