If you are passionate about process optimization, problem-solving, and driving operational excellence, we invite you to apply.This position provides an opportunity to transition from other private, public, government or military experience to a 3M career.The Impact Youll Make in this RoleAs a Manufacturing Engineer within our plant locations, you will be responsible for optimizing manufacturing processes, improving efficiency, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. You will play a crucial role in developing and implementing strategies to enhance productivity, reduce costs, and ensure the highest quality standards. Here, you will make an impact by:Analyze existing manufacturing processes, identify areas for improvement, and develop strategies to optimize efficiency, reduce waste, and increase productivity.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement process improvements, including layout changes, equipment modifications, and workflow enhancements.Conduct time studies, capacity analysis, and line balancing to optimize production flow and resource utilization.Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and process control plans.Collaborate with product design teams to ensure manufacturability and provide input on design for assembly (DFA) and design for manufacturing (DFM) principles.Implement and maintain lean manufacturing principles, such as 5S, Kaizen, and value stream mapping, to drive continuous improvement and waste reduction.Identify and implement automation opportunities to improve efficiency, quality, and safety in manufacturing processes.Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to evaluate and select equipment, tools, and materials that meet quality and cost requirements.Provide technical support and training to production teams, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring adherence to manufacturing processes and quality standards.Stay updated on emerging technologies, industry trends, and regulatory changes related to manufacturing engineering, and proactively implement necessary changes to improve processes and ensure compliance.Your Skills and ExpertiseTo set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:Bachelors degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) in Engineering from an accredited institutionThree (3) years of manufacturing engineering experience within a production plant setting in a private, public, government or military environmentAdditional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:Three (3) years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment.Proven experience in manufacturing process optimization, preferably in a plant or industrial setting.Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing principles, process improvement me hodologies, and quality management systemsProficiency in process analysis tools, such as time studies, capacity analysis, and line balancing.Familiarity with manufacturing equipment, tools, and materials used in the industry.Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills to identify and resolve process-related issues.Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on accuracy and quality in all aspects of work.Work location: On-site USATravel: May include up to 5% domestic/internationalRelocation Assistance: May be authorizedPLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS NOT AN ACTIVE JOB OPENING BUT RATHER A MEANS TO BUILD A PIPELINE OF INDIVIDUALS WHO ARE INTERESTED IN WORKING WITH US IN THE FUTURE.Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).Supporting Your Well-being3M offers many programs to help you live your best life both physically and financially.
