Medical Billing & Claims Specialist

Location:

  • Wausau, WI

  • Job is 100% on-site

Hours:

  • M-F 8am-5pm

Description:

  • A Medical Billing & Claims Specialist is responsible for working and managing Accounts Receivable for our Clinic and Surgery Center and providing excellent customer service to our patients

  • Maintain comprehensive understanding of insurance company rules, regulations, and payer contract requirements.

  • Monitor insurance accounts receivable for both our Clinic and Surgery Center.

  • Follow up on unpaid claims.

  • Process credit balances within a timely manner.

  • Research account denials and file written appeals when necessary.

  • Check each insurance payment for accuracy and compliance with contract discount

  • Respond to inquiries from both insurance companies and patients.

  • Collaboratively cover phone line for insurance/billing related questions.

  • Process and keep track of incoming payments and accounts in compliance with financialprocedures and policies

  • Cross-train on functions within Patient Accounts to help provide coverage as needed.

  • Participate in developing or enhancing department policies and procedures.

  • Assist with ad-hoc projects when assigned.

  • Ability to work in a fast faced environment
