Job Title: Ice Cream Assistant HRBP for R&D

Location: Colworth Science Park

Work-Level: 1D

Reports to: Beatriz Gonsenheim

JOB PURPOSE

The Ice Cream HRBP for R&D will be able to directly make a positive impact on the Research and Development (R&D) team in Colworth, acting as a consultant on human resource-related issues and influencing the Global agenda for R&D.

This person must be able to form strategic partnerships to understand business needs and develop HR strategies that support business goals. They must also be able to positively influence the employee experience at critical points in their career.

This person must be skilled in strategic planning, leadership, communication, and change management to guide the R&D organisation through this significant transformation successfully.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Strategy Development: Align organizational design with the overall business strategy and OKRs. Identify areas of improvement and propose changes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Change Management: Lead change management initiatives to ensure smooth transition to new organizational designs. Manage resistance to change by communicating benefits and involving key stakeholders in the transformation process.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation to gain buy-in and support for proposed changes. Work with department heads and team leaders to ensure that organisational changes align with functional needs.

  • Performance Management: Implement systems to measure the performance of new organisational structures. Adjust and optimize the organisational design based on performance data and feedback.

  • Talent and Leadership Development: Identify and support on the development of leadership capabilities within the organisation to support new structures. Provide coaching and support to line managers.

  • Training and Capability Building: Facilitate training and development programs to upskill employees to thrive in the new organisational setup. Support in onboarding, career moves, career growth.

  • Support Ice Cream HR Strategic People Agenda: Work with HRBPs and Leaders to create and deliver project plans for managing any change programmes and reorganisations.

  • Take a proactive approach to employee relations, reviewing data and spotting any employee relations trends, recommending solutions and coaching Line Managers to take any actions you feel are the right steps to take/ tackle problems before they grow.

  • Work side-by-side with teams across HR (HRBPs, Payroll, Reward, Global Mobility, Talent Acquisition etc), providing support and subject matter expertise to recommend appropriate actions to address queries or problems.

  • Lean into Colworth People Agenda topics when needed, helping shape and drive some of the site initiatives.

Skills

  • A great strategic thinker – able to connect the dots on all things HR and its impact on the wider business. Being able to step back and view the bigger picture is essential.

  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, building strong relationships with trust & confidence, as well as having the ability to influence.

  • Ability to influence strategic deliverables in a matrixed organisation.

  • Ability to manage multiple requests and priorities simultaneously.

  • Experience of employee relations and case management, including knowledge of UK employment laws and regulations

  • Experience in handling sensitive matters with tact and diplomacy, you are comfortable having difficult conversations, working professionally and discreetly with sensitive information

  • A natural collaborator – you’ll work well as part of the team, there is no such thing as “not my job!” here – we have one shared purpose, to drive growth, whilst protecting Unilever from risk.
