Transformer Service Project Manager

A Snapshot of Your Day (position overview)

The Transformer Service Project Manager supervises cost, schedule, quality, and technology for the life cycle of the project. Projects include large transformer assembly and installations as well as regasketing, bushing replacement, relocations, and other service-related transformer projects. These key projects play a pivotal role in the overall business unit performance. A successful candidate will have experience in transformers, leading contracted vendors, providing direction to field service personnel, coordinating factory operations. Leading project execution activities, inter-departmental communication, and operational logistics.

How You’ll Make an Impact (responsibilities)

  • Manage all phases of transformer service projects from inception through completion, and be financially responsible to overall project performance

  • Develop full-scale project plans and associated communications documents, to be utilized between customer and Siemens Energy stakeholders

  • Establish milestones and monitor adherence to master plans and schedules

  • Review and fully understands the project’s agreement/contract, specifications, clarification and exceptions, scope of work, budgets, and allowances prior to commencement.

  • Monitor project progress, cost of labor, material, and productivity for project control and provide regular updates to team, management, and PMO

  • Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion

  • Assist service crews technically and logistically in an everchanging project environment

  • Review proposals and contract orders for accuracy and risk assessment

  • Provide project revenue and profit forecasts as part of regular project status updates

  • Provide regular updates to team, management, and PMO on work performed, plans, budget, and overall status

  • Support the preparation of proposals, business plans, proposal work statements and specifications, operating budgets, and financial terms/conditions of contract

What You Bring (requirements)

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or similar technical discipline from an accredited university or college

  • PMP (Project Management Professional) certification preferred with advanced knowledge of project management processes & tools

  • Transformer Service & installation experience required

  • Project Management experience of 3 years, or more, preferred, experience in projects with operating budgets >$1 million with a minimum of 3 years industry experience required

  • Ability to demonstrate leadership skills and proven track record of collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams, including program management, services, engineering, operations, and logistics

  • Proven experience in managing subcontractors and/or field service personnel

  • Proven experience in risk management

  • Proven experience in developing and managing project communication plans

  • Proven experience in project commercial reporting

  • Proven experience in project closure and handover processes

  • Travel may be up to 30% and may include international travel.
