ThermoFisher Scientific Reliability Engineering - Co-Op in Mississauga, Ontario

Job Description

This Co-Op position is a minimum of 12 months and will run from May 2024 through April 2025

Summary:

The main focus of this position is to provide support for the Engineering department.

Essential Functions:

Researches, develops and implements processes and procedures necessary to establish a Reliability Centered Maintenance

(RCM) culture to improve equipment performance and reliability. Constantly support on the new tools and methods to make

the maintenance group a more reliability focused, proactive work group

• Reports on KPIs that represent the performance of the maintenance systems and assets

Supports on work execution management elements, including but not limited to 1) MRO Spares 2) PM optimization 3) Bill of

Materials and 4) CMMS Readiness

Implements maintenance optimization reviews of each asset's criticality, functional importance and duty cycle and establishes

best-practice maintenance activities required to detect early signs of functional failures.

• Develops the use of asset criticality matrix and spare parts criticality analysis ranking tools.

• Development and maintenance of on-line database of all projects.

• Provide clerical support for project specifications.

• Supports on Lean 5S project initiatives.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

High school diploma/General Educational Development (GED) Certificate is required

Working towards University degree or College diploma in an Engineering or trades program of study

Mechanical program is preferred.

12 month commitment period is an essential

Experience:

Requires no previous Reliability Engineering experience.

Any working experience in Engineering, Maintenance or Facilities department in a Manufacturing company would be preferred.

Equivalency:

Equivalent combinations of education, training, and relevant work experience may be considered.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Ability to prioritize multiple projects, work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines. Excellent interpersonal, organizational,

communication and presentation skills. Must be able to work well with limited supervision. Must be able to maintain high degree of

confidentiality for work assigned. Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). Proficiency with the

English language.

Standards and Expectations:

Follow all Environmental Health & Safety Policies and Procedures. Work harmoniously with fellow team members, modelling positive team

principles and partnering to meet project and departmental objectives. Carry out all duties within strict compliance to Patheon quality systems

SOP's and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP). Maintain workspace in a clean and orderly fashion. Actively engage in and adhere to

departmental systems in order to maintain a smooth and efficient workflow (visual management, scheduling systems, etc.). Be client and

patient conscious at all times. Understand Key Performance Indicators and strive to improve the performance of the team by identifying areas

for system improvements and engage in problem solving. Models positive thinking and is open to change, motivating the team to adapt to shifts in priorities and new ways of working. Proactively identify areas for improvement in the execution of procedures. Communicate risks to

timelines of deliverables in a proactive manner. Consistently strives to improve skills and knowledge in related field.
