This position will report to the Data Analytics Manager. This position will primarily consist of entry-level data retrieval, collation of data sources, and basic data analysis. The successful candidate will support a variety of multidisciplinary projects with varying complexity and requirements and will work in both individual and team environments. They will also collaborate with researchers and principal investigators during intake meetings, follow-ups, and check-ins related to cohorting and analysis. Our ideal candidate has strong quantitative analytical skills and a demonstrated ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate information with attention to detail and accuracy while working in a fast-paced environment. Duties/Responsibilities 85%: Data cleaning and cohorting Conducts entry-level data retrieval and data transfers to aid in building datasets requested by research investigators. Executes data abstractions using methods created by data analysts or novel methods developed as needed. Keeps detailed records of data abstractions. Independently creates and plans data cohorts based on the initial service request: researches the relevant literature and meets with the investigatory team to refine requirements. Independently generates data plans & project management documents based on the initial service request, researching the relevant literature, meeting with the investigatory team to refine requirements. Executes data cohorting, wrangling & extraction based on the developed data plan. Keeps detailed records of all data extractions and cohorts. Communicates findings and data to the research team and other stakeholders. Interfaces and coordinates work with IT, clinical, and academic stakeholders. Confers with other data analysts/data scientists as needed for more complex data requests. Ensures quality and integrity of deliverables by conducting and participating in audits, meta-analyses, and requesting peer-review. 10%: Data analysis Analyzes data collected from data abstraction. Synthesizes data in easily readable format and prepares graphs, charts, tables and reports of data. 5%: Manuscript writing Assists in writing methods and results sections for manuscript and grant submissions. Work Arrangements This position follows UMN Work. With Flexibility. guidelines. Currently, the position will be primarily working from home. There may be occasional needs to be on campus and over time there may be a need to set a regular schedule for a few days on campus each week. Work hours should follow a regular schedule between 7-5, M-F. Salary range: $56,000-66,000 Qualifications Required Qualifications BA/BS degree or a combination of related education and work experience to equal at least four years. Mathematics, statistics, or public health preferred. Familiarity with descriptive statistics, summary tables, t-tests, chi-square, odds ratio, and solutions for missing data. Development and experience working with databases or large datasets, specifically electronic health records. Demonstrated working knowledge of R, STATA, or SQL. Excellent verbal and written communication. Demonstrated project management, organizational, analytical and interpersonal skills. Preferred Qualifications MPH, MS in Statistics, Mathematics, Applied Health Science, Data Analytics or related graduate degree. Experience assisting researchers with drafting publications; especially methods, analysis, and results. Ability to function effectively in a complex organizational environment and ability to successfully relate and interact with diverse groups of people. Demonstrated ability to find creative solutions and workarounds. Experience working in a research university environment. Working knowledge of SAS.
