Working collaboratively as part of the design team, the Intermediate Electrical Designer will assist with the development and implementation of client-driven Infrastructure designs and solutions. Projects include street lighting, traffic signals and other transportation needs. This individual will use knowledge of specialized design concepts and software tools to produce designs and drawings in accordance with industry standards, client requirements, and applicable codes and regulations. Efficient delivery of project deliverables, effective quality control, clear communication of expectations to stakeholders and upward reporting are critical tasks that must be performed throughout each project's lifecycle.
We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join our team as an Intermediate Electrical Designer (Infrastructure). The ideal candidate will be comfortable with minimal supervision and be results driven. This role will be based out of office in Burnaby, British Columbia & Edmonton, AB. The position pays $80-$120,000k/yr.
Job Duties:
Prepare detailed designs for transportation electrical systems using AutoCAD and or Microstation
Conduct detailed calculations such as voltage drop, illumination, conductor and conduit sizing, and grounding to ensure that designs meet relevant engineering standards and applicable codes
Conduct critical reviews of detailed site layouts and electrical drawings, including schematics, profiles/underground plans, single line diagrams, panel schedules and electrical plans
Design of electrical layouts for cable raceways/underground conduits, lighting, panel schedules design, lighting poles and base details, luminaire schedule, electrical grounding
Design and develop single line/3-line diagrams as instructed by Engineers
Prepare utility underground coordination drawings and resolve conflicts for street lighting and signals equipment bases and conduits
Prepare phasing and timing plans for intersections and traffic signals
Develop equipment list, load list and bill of materials for the entire project
Prepare cost estimates and assist in the preparation of project schedules, and progress reports as required by the project managers
Review vendor drawings for street lighting and signals equipment as required
Interface with other disciplines (civil, structural and utilities) on design and multidiscipline packages
Interact with other team members and external stakeholders regarding project requirements and progress updates
Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
Diploma in Electrical Engineering
3+ years of relevant experience in design of electrical transportation systems
Prior electrical or electronic knowledge in street lighting and traffic signal design and certification in IMSA Level 1 and 2 would be an asset
Working knowledge with AutoCAD and AGi32
Experience with REVIT and MicroStation would be an asset
Demonstrated understanding of design and construction practices
Knowledge of Canadian Electrical Code – Part 1 would be an asset
Experience in electrical design for industrial underground utility projects is an asset
Excellent communication skills both written and oral in English
Strong analytical, problem solving, and critical thinking skills
Excellent interpersonal skills (must be willing to communicate with all levels of management)
Proficient in MS office and related tools such as Word & Excel
Time management and delivering on time with quality
Excellent professional English knowledge, both writing and speaking
