The Bureau of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and Preparedness, Division of Public Health, is hiring a Technical Records Specialist 2 for the Systems of Care Section. The position is located on Old Penitentiary Road in Boise.

The TRS 2 will collaborate with other staff and supervisors to monitor the process and compliance for provider and agency licensures, EMS education and examinations; and TSE system designations. The position will utilize Idaho’s Gateway for Emergency Medical Services (IGEMS) system to accomplish daily tasks. This position will perform specialized support work involving an extensive in-depth knowledge of the program and system. The TRS 2 position requires a distinctive skill set: the incumbent must interpret, explain requirements, processes, and procedures to others via verbal and written communications.

In addition, they must monitor licensure compliance, while building and maintaining relationships with staff , peers, and community providers.

    EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:

  • Determine and explain compliance with laws, rules, regulations and policies and take appropriate action providing information and services to customers in-person, over the phone and/or via email communications.

  • Provide technical assistance to EMS providers and agencies on interpretation of program regulations and licensing process.

  • Review documents for acceptability or conformance to licensure eligibility requirements according to rules, regulations, statutes, and program policies and procedures.

  • Review, evaluate, approve, and process requests for EMS licensure, education courses, instructor certification, vouchers, and exams.

  • Review, evaluate, approve, and process applicant background check documents as part of the provider licensing process. Research, analyze, and interpret responses from criminal history records for dissemination to state, local, and independent agencies or private individuals.

    Experience

  • Monitoring record systems to identify and correct errors.Typically gained by one year of related experience.

  • Interpreting, explaining, and applying laws, regulations, and complex policies for multiple or highly specialized programs. Typically gained by one year of related experience.

  • Analyzing information and researching a variety of sources to identify and resolve problems or issues.Typically gained by one year of related experience.

  • Dealing with individuals from varying cultural and socio-economic backgrounds in stressful situations.Typically gained by one year of related experience.

  • Entering and retrieving data using a computerized record system.Typically gained by six months of related experience.

  • Composing and proofreading business correspondence.Typically gained by one year of related experience.
