Job Title: Network Administrator

Location: Berkeley, CA (traveling to various East Bay sites)

Robert Half is seeking a Network Administrator to join a team. This role will involve traveling to various sites within the Richmond, Oakland, Berkeley, San Pablo, Pinole, and Emeryville areas. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently, with a strong understanding of network troubleshooting and hardware deployment on a contract basis.

Responsibilities:

• Locate server rooms and switch closets at designated sites.

• Drive to multiple sites to perform tasks such as rebooting Comcast modems and troubleshooting network connectivity.

• Conduct basic network diagnostics, including plugging laptops into switches and identifying IP addresses.

• Proficient in using ipconfig and troubleshooting on command lines.

• Assist in equipment deployment, including lifting and moving UPS batteries and switches (15-40 pounds lift).

• Understand OSI model Layers 1 and 2.

• Identify and address network outages and issues based on tickets.

• Knowledge of data and voice networking principles.

• Familiarity with DNS servers and the pinging process.

• Experience with Windows, Cisco switches and routers, and Meraki cloud-managed access points.

• Understanding of Windows Active Directory and domain controllers.

• Ability to perform cabling and hardware changes, utilizing necessary tools such as drills and screwdrivers.

• Open to Senior IT Support specialists with networking knowledge.

• Strong understanding of networking principles and command lines.

• Ability to work independently and travel to various sites.

• Proficiency in troubleshooting network issues.

• Experience with Windows, Cisco, and Meraki technologies.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to lift 15-40 pounds.
