Position Overview We are currently seeking a Project Scientist, responsible for working in partnership with Senior Project Managers directing the project team to complete and oversee field sampling and reporting activities for environmental projects for a variety of federal and commercial clients. This job can be in one of our three offices: Farmington Hills, Akron, OH or Oak Ridge, TN Managing multiple site investigations and remediation field projects from work plan development through field effort and report preparation, budget / proposal preparation and overall task coordination with limited supervision. Prepare various CERCLA and RCRA documents including UFP-QAPPs, investigation reports, Proposed Plans, Decision Documents, and Feasibility Studies. Lead and participate as a member of a remedial investigation team under the direction of the Senior Project Manager to collect the required field data on physical and chemical characteristics, including sediment, soil, groundwater and soil vapor sample collection, field logistics, sample processing and shipment, maintain daily logbook, and QA/QC review of field documentation. Coordinate and manage subcontractors/field personnel during fieldwork, including a variety of drilling / subsurface investigation techniques, preparation and real-time review of boring logs, installation of monitoring wells in accordance with applicable guidelines, groundwater monitoring, vapor intrusion assessment, and remedial pilot tests. Working knowledge of field investigation techniques, laboratory analyses and waste characterization criteria, human health screening criteria, interpretation of geologic and chemical data for surface water, soil, soil gas and groundwater, and be able to prepare and complete reports summarizing field procedures and results. Oversee and work productively with subcontractors while assuring work scopes and safety requirements are met. Qualifications include: Requires a bachelor's degree in Geology, Hydrogeology or Environmental Sciences. Post graduate degree preferred, but not required. Experience with Federal Clients strongly preferred. 5 to 10 years' experience in environmental consulting specializing in the planning and managing of a variety of field investigations, studies, and remedial actions that potentially involve multidisciplinary project teams. Experience with Federal Clients strongly preferred. Strong project and task management, field investigation, analytical, and computer skills. Ability to prepare and review technical reports, including investigation/remedial action work plans and summary reports, health and safety plans, and Decision Documents. Ability to review analytical data, summarize the data, and develop conclusions related to the results. Working knowledge of CERCLA and RCRA. Strong technical writing skills; Organization, written communication, and oral communication skills Proficient using Microsoft office applications, specifically Word, Excel, and Outlook. Professional Registration (i.e., Professional Geologist) preferred, but not required. Additional Requirements: CTI is a Drug-Free Workplace - Must pass pre-hire drug screen.
